The art of the tray

Since living in our house for over a year i have found how useful trays can be. I love that they help create spaces in a home and seem to draw the eye to certain areas. They are great for collecting and organizing objects like candles, books, jewelry, flowers or even the remote control.

When i happened upon my gold tray at Pier 1 imports pier1.com, i thought it could be a good contrast from the rest of the more rustic and natural look of our home. When i brought it home my boyfriend was a bit worried about the flash factor. So i decided why not wrap the edges/handles in jute to tone down the flash.

You will need:
Jute-find this at any home depot or craft store.
Hot glue gun
Your favorite tray
First roughly measure the amount of jute you want to use, i found the more the better. Hot glue the first end to the inside edge of the tray and start to tightly wind the jute around the handles inside and out, at the end then glue the last edge to the inside of the handle.

The tray sits on our coffee table in our living room and i love how useful it has become.
